Welcome to our blog

We are the Prescott family originally from Florida. Growing up we spent many memorable summers in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the NW corner of North Carolina. The mountains provided a relief from the heat of the south and offered a culture all of it's own. Our family all participated in the local outdoor drama, "Horn in the West," for many years and our ties to the area strengthened. Eventually we purchased one of the original round houses built in the 70's in Mill Ridge Resort. Originally the resort offered skiing and the equipment from the chair lift is still in place if you hike the steep trail behind the former ski lodge. Now the resort is home to many year round residents as well as seasonal dwellers. The resort now offers a beautiful landscape with two ponds and clear running connecting steams. There is a newly remodeled pool and also two tennis courts. The Watagua River runs right along the edge of our property, in fact the deck extends right out over the river. We enjoy several weeks out of the year at our mountain retreat but have decided to offer it as a daily or weekly rental, until the day comes that we have more time to spend there. Our cottage is small but very comfortable. There are two bedrooms, one with an antique double sized bed and the other with a set of bunk beds. There is an additional bunk built into a semi private alcove. There are two full baths. The family room has a flat screen tv and DVD player. The dining/living area has a gas log fireplace. The kitchen is small but fully equipped with a side by side refrigerator/freezer and a full sized electric oven and stove. There is an assortment of pots and pans and dishes and linens available. Instead of creating a sterile environment in our rental, we have left it pretty much the way it was when our family was living in it 6 months out of the year, just performed some decluttering and replaced some flooring. You will find plenty of board games and puzzels in the antique buffet to keep everyone busy on a rainy day. Nothing is off limits for our guests to use, we just ask that you notify us if anything is accidently broken. We hope you enjoy the cool summer nights and the sound of the rushing river as it passes close by as much as we do.
